TQ 06872 47682   As usual far more mayfly in upper than in middle. Also far less BWOs. Tiny crayfish (2) in sample. Fast flowing coloured water deeper than normal. Lots of silt. As normal for upper, devoid of weed and bankside vegetation. Large number (80) of cranefly larvae. Rather low numbers of shrimp compared to middle beat. A few cranefly larvae (10) found in sample.
